Do you realize that the content that you post on your social media pages becomes part of your personally brand? What does your page say about you? Can you look at your page and be proud of the way you have represented yourself? If a coworker or company exec visit your profile will they see a bunch of memes on relationships, stalkers, trolls, baby daddy or baby mamma drama, side chick memes and (MCM) man crush Monday posts?
Let's just go head and put it out there that memes are used to dram satire but when used incorrectly they are used to drum up drama and get someone's point across to another individual that they think is watching their page. However, this is so very far from the truth. Because if you think about it that one person you might intend the meme for may be the one that honestly does not see it, but the other 300 people that follow you will see it and draw conclusions about your intent.

People and companies are not signing in under their own profiles anymore, they are smart and they understand that people private their accounts so that their job or co-workers will not be able to see their posts. But, here is what you don't know, companies have gotten hip to social media and they are creating fake pages that has a size following and appealing content ran and monitored by people like me to find you and follow and keep up with the real you that is represented online. They want us to follow and comment on your pages and even have dialogue. You see, they have figured out that the person that came to the interview is not the real you, they have figured out that the person in the resume is not the real you. Companies know that the only way to get to know the other side of you is through your online brand. They see the negative comments, the memes, the drama, they see you.
You are your brand and the sooner you realize this the better. The way you represent yourself online whether it is on Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat or Youtube effects your growth and page rankings. Some people become popular or go viral with little to no effort. Yet, so many others struggle to get more that 500 followers. How do some become popular and how can you grow your influence and reach more people? People become popular and gain followers by first, being authentic. Authenticity goes a very long way on social media. It is natural and not forced, it makes you relatable and appealing. When you are being true to yourself, your followers know, they can spot a fake or a wanna-be and will usually get annoyed and will unfollow. But when you are genuine you are rewarded with likes, views and follows.
Secondly, your page should flow well with the image you are trying to represent because that is indicative of your overall brand. I will get deeper into this on the next blog post. As, can see there is more to it than you know.
